GOLBORNE were left frustrated as Blackrod's last pair held up their victory charge.
Golborne were put in and Ross and Tyrer batted sensibly to pushed the score along well.
Ross was in fine form and reached his 50 with the score on 62. Tyrer started to punish the bad ball and he too reached his 50, but was then adjudged run out for 54 with the score on 145.
Ross was still batting superbly and looked to be on his way to his first Golborne 100, but unfortunately was bowled by Southworth (T) on 95 with the score on 162. Professional Brad Roach hit two big sixes in a quickfire 25 before being third man out on 185.
Marston and Robinson then put on 44 for the fourth wicket when Marston was out for 29. Robinson finished on 15 not out and Barry Greenwood on 3 not out when Golborne declared on 233 -4 from 46 overs.
Golborne got the perfect start when Blackrod's opener Jack Southworth was out second ball for 0, superbly caught by Roach at first slip. Fairbrother was next out for 11, bowled by Ross with the socre on 38 and Sanderson followed for 24, with no addition to the score, caught by Darbyshire off the bowling of Roberts.
Westhead and Pyle accelerated the scoring rate and with a couple of missed chances the score reached 89 before Pyle was caught by Marston off the bowling of Tony Greenwood. Westhead soon followed for a fine 44 with the score on 96, again caught by Darbyshire, this time off the bowling of Barry Greenwood.
Speak and Dickenson put the bad ball away and soon took the score to 156 before Speak's was the sixth wicket to fall, caught on the edge by Marston off the bowling of Ross for a useful 23. Wickets continued to fall and with two overs remaining Blackrod had reached 198-9.
Dickenson played out the 49th over, leaving Fairbrother to face Ross in the last over, and Golborne looked to have victory sealed when Fairbrother played forward to the second delivery and seemed to have been caught at silly mid off, but was adjuged not out by the umpire.
Blackrod survived the remaining four balls, and finished on 207-9, Dickenson reaching 53 not out. The pick of the Golborne bowlers was Iain Ross with four wickets for 55 from 18 overs.
