TRIBUTES have been paid to former Archdeacon of Blackburn David Robinson, who has died at the age of 72.
He was Blackburn born and bred and served as archdeacon from 1986 to 1996.
Retired Blackburn canon Michael Taylor, who was a close friend of Archdeacon Robinson, said he was renowned throughout the parishes of the town as a wise priest.
It is understood the archdeacon had been ill for a short time and had died peacefully at his family home in Warton, Carnforth, on June 12. Canon Taylor said: "He was highly regarded by the clergy who saw him as a very good friend and a wise pastor."
The archdeacon leaves a wife Carol and a son and daughter, Chris and Cate.
