SHAKERS have finally secured a trip to Wales -- but sadly not the one they wanted.
Hopes of securing promotion to Division Two stopped one game short of a dream play-off final appearance at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium last season.
And now they face the reality of another season in the Football League's basement division with an opening day fixture at Swansea.
Bury boss Andy Preece will be desperate for a flying start to blow away the hangover from last season's disappointments.
But the omens are not in their favour.
Although Bury have the edge with 29 league wins to Swansea's 24, they have failed to win at Vetch Field in 13 years.
Bury's first home fixture is against fellow play-off losers Scunthorpe United, while their promotion bid could be decided at Gigg Lane on May 8, when they take on Macclesfield on the final day.
Fallen giants Huddersfield land at Gigg Lane on September 6 while the derby fixtures against Rochdale are at home on December 13 and at Spotland on March 13.
