A 29-YEAR-OLD MAN from Bury killed in a horrific head-on collision on the M66 has been named.
Paul James Martin, of Bolton Road North, Ramsbottom, suffered serious injuries after his BMW car collided with a Volkswagen Passat.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, near junction one at Ramsbottom, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The 47-year-old driver of the Passat, who is from Radcliffe, is still in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at Bury General Hospital.
Police said the Volkswagon driver entered the motorway slip-road at junction one travelling in the wrong direction and then collided with the BMW.
The Radcliffe man had to be cut free from the wreckage of his car and taken to Bury's Fairfield Hospital with multiple injuries.
