CAR tax dodgers in Rossendale West have been targeted by police and the DVLA during a week-long clamp down.
The operation in Rawtenstall, Haslingden and Helmshore, between Monday and yesterday, resulted in 51 vehicles being clamped and 120 being reported for failing to have a tax disk.
Community beat manager Gordon McGeechan said: "We have been driving round targeting specific areas where we know people don't tend to pay tax. In one day we clamped 20 vehicles. We also get reports and observation from members of the public.
"If it comes to the attention of the police that people are continuing to evade paying their excise duty another operation will be circulated for later in the year."
