HOW is it when Councillor Dave Smith talks of monies invested in Darwen (Letters, June 10) he goes back two or three years and then goes to the future by the same amount of time, but when Blackburn is mentioned, it is of monies spent over the last 12 months?
Last year there was £1billion invested in the borough over the same length of time according to Coun Smith's list. Darwen saw £2.6million for Sure Start and £750,000 for a Resources Centre. Total £3.35million. This is only a very small proportion of the £1billion and nothing more then the crumbs off Blackburn's table.
There is a prize of £100 to be won in the council's newspaper, the Shuttle, for people who recycle, I think Coun Smith must be in with a chance of winning, because he has recycled the same old rubbish about what's been done for Darwen so many times.
ROY DAVIES, Olive Lane, Darwen.
