WORK will begin this week on phase two of Blackpool FC's stadium redevelopment.

Bulldozers are expected to move in on the east paddock, affectionately known as the 'scratching shed' this week, and the aging south stand will also be demolished shortly.

A new temporary stand for away supporters will be set up along the east touchline while the new south stand is built.

The club is giving fans a final chance to look round the old stands on Wednesday, from 4pm to 7pm.

Supporters interested in buying any of the fixtures and fittings from the old stand are invited to contact the club on 0870 4431953.

Club chairman, Karl Oyston, said: "We have a very tight initial timescale to work to and are working with the safety advisory group and council to implement the demolition of the east and south and installation of a temporary stand which should be ready for early in the new season.

"The construction of the new south stand will begin shortly after the enabling works have been completed."

The club is also offering two supporters the chance to take part in the demolition of the east stand via an auction on its website at www.blackpoolfc.co.uk.
