BLACKPOOL are being tipped to swoop for two former Burnley stars as they bid to strengthen their squad for the new season.
Former Clarets skipper, Steve Davis and keeper, Marlon Beresford, are both believed to have had strong interest from Steve McMahon since leaving the cash-strapped Turf Moor club.
Centre half Davis still lives in Lancashire, but Blackpool may face competition from the likes of Bradford, Hartlepool and even Sunderland for his services.
Goalkeeper Beresford has played Premiership football with Middlesborough and spent most of last season on a month-to-month contract at Burnley.
But, despite the speculation, Kirk Hilton is still the only player to put pen to paper for Steve McMahon's side.
Hilton will face his former side, Royal Antwerp, when the Belgian side, Manchester united's 'partner' club, face the Seasiders at Bloomfield Road on August 2.
Today (Thursday) sees the division two fixture list published.
The Seasiders will be hoping for a kinder opening fixture on August 9 than last year's trip to Bristol City. Other dates which will capture the imagination include the two fixtures with Sheffield Wednesday, and the games with Grimsby, managed by former Seasider, Paul Groves.
