HASLINGDEN openers Graham Knowles and Mike Ingham have rewritten the record books at the Bentgate club.
The opening duo put on 216 for the first wicket as Haslingden scored a 54-run success over Lowerhouse, though the rain frustrated the home side as the loss of 11 overs saw them fail to take maximum points.
Haslingden set 296-5 after the opening pair had notched the best first wicket score for the club, Knowles taking the lead with a fine attacking 130 that included two sixes and 18 fours, while Ingham also made a strong 74.
It was only as they sought to push the scoring rate even higher as the innings closed that Lowerhouse got any joy.
Joe Beneduce took all the wickets and posted figures of five for 44, though he benefited from the fact the home side's middle order threw caution to the wind - though Kashif Saddiq ended unbeaten with a tidy 45.
The Lowerhouse reply never really got going but after 18 overs there was a delay and that was enough to ensure they clung on to close at 142-8.
There had been some joy with the ball for Haslingden's Steve Dearden who claimed 3-39 and was only denied a hat-trick in a spell of three wickets in five balls because Peter Maudsley stood firm, but time ran out for the Bentgate attack.
