A NEW youth group is ready for action and is looking for teenagers to get involved.
Ramsbottom and Tottington Youth Action Group is an innovative project which promises to listen to the views of young people.
With the assistance of a youth worker and youth participation officer, a group of young people from Ramsbottom and Tottington aged between 13 and 19 have been meeting regularly to discuss local issues.
The young people will consult with other teenagers in order to represent them fairly and will feed back views to the Area Board and Youth Cabinet.
The adult representatives comprising a councillor, a police representative, three community representatives and the area co-ordinator, will be there to give assistance and guidance.
Leanne Freeman, youth participation worker, said: "Young people have traditionally been told what is good for them and have been provided with services without being first consulted about what they really want.
"Young people have opinions and have a right to be listened to."
Anybody who would like to get involved with Ramsbottom and Tottington Youth Action Group should contact Leanne on 0161 253 6336.
