LANCASHIRE ambulance service is officially in the top three in the country, according to the latest Government statistics.
Only two other services besides Lancashire exceeded all three Government targets for emergency and urgent response during the year 2002/3.
The figures achieved were:
Life-threatening calls: 76.7% (target 75%) within eight minutes
Non life-threatening calls: 95.4% (target 95%) within 19 minutes
Urgent calls: 97.6% (target 95%) within 15 minutes of agreed arrival time
David Hill, chief executive at Lancashire Ambulance Service, said: "This is continuing good news for patients and the public of Lancashire.
"The fact that so very few ambulance services nationally achieve all three targets underlines just how stretching the targets are.
"The operational crews and control room staff deserve congratulations for the success that their hard work and dedication has delivered to benefit patients.
"We are very proud of our track record of success and this year we have secured funding for additional resources which will help us to maintain these standards and hopefully improve still further."
