I AM astounded at the work carried out in Spring Street, Bury, close to Asda.
The entire street is being block-paved at council taxpayers' expense, costing around £180,000. I have been informed by a council officer from the regeneration department that no grant has been received for this aesthetic refurbishment.
I am sure readers would agree that there are numerous other streets and roads throughout the borough which would benefit from proper maintenance, so I would like the council to explain why this waste of limited resources was approved, and who approved it. And I now wonder if other streets in that area will be applying to be "regenerated" by being block paved?
