A MAN told a jury how he went to the aid of an attack victim and feared he was dead.
It has been alleged that 46 year-old William Bulcock was swung by the arm into the path of an oncoming car which ran over him. Then as he lay unconscious, his attacker kicked him a number of times, a court was told.
A jury at Preston Crown Court heard Mr Bulcock woke up in hospital with no recollection of the incident.
He was in intensive care with broken ribs, a punctured lung, fractured skull and a cut to his head.
Richard Haworth, prosecuting, told the jury that defendant Andrew Hill took hold of Mr Bulcock and swung him by his arm into the roadway into the path of a car which ran over him.
Witness David Law told the court: "The car bounced over him. He was left in the roadway.
"I went over to him, he was unconscious. I thought he was dead. There was blood pumping out of the back of his head.
"He was choking on his tongue. I tried to get his tongue out and the defendant started kicking him."
Hill, 29, of Clayton Street, Blackburn denies causing grievous bodily harm with intent on January 9 this year.
