HOW ridiculous the new car parking charge scheme in certain parts of Blackburn is.
Areas around Blackburn College have recently had pay meters erected as the spaces have become a pay zone. I am not too bothered about this -- it's understandable due to the congestion over the past couple of years.
What I am angry about is that you can only pay up to one hour. This is absurd because how many students go to college for just an hour?
As a result, almost all of the parking spaces are left empty and cars are being left all over the place -- outside people's houses, etc. -- where they can be left for at least four hours.
Why do the meters not provide for paying extra for a longer stay? Instead the majority of spaces being empty they would be full and the council would raise much more money.
