ROVERS could face competition from Manchester City for the signature of Claudio Reyna - should they decide to pursue their interest in the Sunderland midfielder.
Souness is keeping tabs on Reyna's situation at the Stadium of Light and chief executive John Williams has admitted the United States international is a player 'Graeme would like'.
However, City boss Kevin Keegan is also being linked with the 30-year-old, although much depends on what happens with Marc Vivien Foe.
City are still in the running to sign the Cameroon star, who has been figuring regularly in his country's current tilt at the Confederations Cup in France.
Foe is available on a free but he is also said to be interesting Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren, who looks almost certain to lose Foe's fellow countryman Geremi to Real Madrid.
