LANCASTER'S John O'Gaunt Morris Men are to celebrate 35 years of dancing by taking to the streets of the city - along with four other traditional dance teams.
The birthday bash will take place next Saturday, July 5, on the anniversary of the Morris team' formation in 1968 from an existing sword dance team.
The team - which takes its name from the historic Duke of Lancaster - have a repertoire of dances drawn from diverse Morris tradi-tions.
They will be kitted out in their colourful and distinctive costumes, including black waistcoats bearing the royal coat of arms - red and blue baldrics, black breeches and red socks - all topped off with a decorated bowler hat.
Joining the local team will be the Southport Swords; Clog-ology, a clogdancing troupe from Oswald-twistle; the Banchory-Teran Morris Men from north of the border, and Lancashire's Britannia Coconut Dancers.
Kicking off at 10.20am, the teams will process from Sun Street Square to Market Square via Church Street. There follows sessions at intervals throughout the day starting at 10.45am in Market Square.
