A MORECAMBE man was blinded and burned in front of his three-year-old son in a vicious road rage attack.
Lloyd Tyson was assaulted on Powder House Lane, Lancaster, on Tuesday afternoon by a motorist who forced him to pull over and then squirted mace spray into his eyes.
The dad stopped after being followed for more than 10 minutes, shunted twice and almost forced off the road. And it was then that his attacker pounced.
"He followed me everywhere I went. I pulled over and he stopped right at the side of me, leaned in my window and sprayed me in the eyes," says Lloyd.
"I managed to duck down and he tried to spray the kids. I had to put my arms up to protect them."
He says he had been turning onto Slyne Road in his black Ford Orion when a white Renault Laguna came speeding behind him.
Lloyd describes how he detoured around several streets with the man 'banging' into the back of the car.
"I have never seen my son so scared and the other two kids in the car were petrified. I did not expect it and cannot under-stand why he followed me and what he thought he would achieve," says Lloyd.
The 20year-old was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary where he was treated for burns to his eyes and arms.
"I have never been in so much pain and if that had got on the kids, they would still be crying now," he adds.
DS Sgt Mark Salisbury called the attack 'very extreme' and says: "Most motorists will find themselves becoming annoyed with the actions of other road users, but the circumstances of this offence go beyond any justification."
"The offender is clearly a very dangerous man and while the road rage may have been a spontaneous act, he clearly had the incapacitating spray in his possession prior to the incident."
The attacker is described as being a 25-year-old Asian or black man with a foreign accent. He had short dark hair. and was wearing designer glasses, a red and blue football top and a gold chain.
