NEW 'talking shops' are being pioneered by a Darwen community centre to get residents involved in important issues.
Sudellside Community Centre is inviting residents to four unique social events covering four separate topics - youth, race and culture, poverty and social class, and education.
The events will be held on four consecutive Tuesdays from next week.
Sue Freear, centre manager, said: "The idea is for people to come along and air their views.
"The first talk will be on youth next week and we will look at how they are portrayed in the media and the discrimination they face.
"We will also look at what can be done to improve youth facilities in the area.
"We are hoping that a lot of people will turn up because these are important issues that should be open to public discussion and debate."
The talks will be at the centre from 5.30 to 8pm. For more information, contact 01254 760270.
