MORE than 50 years ago Ronald and Margaret Todd became teenage sweethearts.
Now they are celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary.
The couple who live in Pleckgate Road, Pleckgate, Blackburn, are celebrating 50 happy years along with their five children, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ronald and Margaret, now both 71, met while dancing at King George's Hall, Blackburn, when they were 17 years old.
Four years later, Ronald managed to get a week's leave from his army posting in Germany to come back and married Margaret amid the Queen's Coronation celebrations. They honeymooned on the Isle of Man.
After the wedding at St Alban's Church, Larkhill, the pair settled in Blackburn where Ronald became a plumber, then a teacher and Margaret worked in Boots the Chemist in Blackburn and Clitheroe.
Ronald said: "I think our happy marriage is down to give and take."
