INFLUENTIAL Aussie Pat Weisner is likely to ignore the after-effects a painful facial injury to take his place in Leigh Centurions' line-up on Sunday.
Leigh feared that their in-form half-back had suffered a fractured cheekbone in last week's defeat by Salford but the prognosis now looks much better.
Weisner's face is still swollen and bruised but preliminary x-rays have shown no fracture.
"Pat will have another set of x-rays taken this week but he doesn't feel there is a problem," says coach Paul Terzis.
"He's back in training with us and if he continues to make progress, he'll be in the side on Sunday."
Terzis is desperate to get one of his chief playmakers on the park as Leigh look to bounce back immediately from their Salford defeat.
Biting deeply
But with injuries biting deeply into the squad, he could be forced into a few surprise selections for this Sunday's visit of Hull KR.
Alan Hadcroft is almost certain to miss out after dislocating a toe; Neil Turley will again be missing and Leroy Rivett is still not 100 per cent after a knee strain.
"Alan was still in pain earlier in the week and is struggling to put his full weight on the foot. Neil started light training this week but he's got to take things very slowly," Terzis added.
One piece of good news for the Hilton Park boss is the return from suspension of Dale Cardoza who has now completed a three-match ban.
Leigh desperately need the points to keep in touch with Salford at the top of the table but know they are in for another tough examination with Rovers having won three games in a row.
