SHAKERS boss Andy Preece has stolen a march on his rivals by joining the cream of British talent on an FA coaching course.
The player-manager graduated from the FA Coaching Diploma alongside Premiership bosses Steve McLaren, David O'Leary, Micky Adams, Steve Bruce and Peter Reid.
Southend's Mike Newell and Rob Newman, Northampton's Kevan Broadhurst and Lincoln's Keith Alexander were the only other basement bosses to gain the qualification.
Preece will get the chance to test his skills against Premiership opposition when Kevin Keegan brings his all-star Manchester City side to Gigg Lane next month.
In a late change to Bury's already crowded pre-season campaign, Robbie Fowler, David Seaman and company will land at Bury on July 26 as they warm up for their UEFA Cup adventure.
The match will come less than a fortnight after Shakers take on their other Premiership neighbours Bolton Wanderers on July 14, with the club offering fans the chance to enjoy a 'Lancashire Night.'
For an entry fee of £25 -- £15 for juniors -- Bolton or Bury fans can enjoy a three-course traditional Lancashire hot pot meal, free parking, free programme and a seat in the main stand.
