A 55-YEAR-OLD woman was dragged to the ground by a mugger after she refused to give up her handbag at 4.20pm yesterday .

The woman from Accrington was in Milnshaw Lane, Accrington, near Aldi supermarket, when a man grabbed her bag off her shoulder from behind and spun her round.

She refused to let go and was pulled to the ground and dragged along the pavement until the bag was prised from her fingers.

The man, described as slim, between 20 and 25, with a dark complexion, jumped into a waiting red saloon car that was driven off by an accomplice.

The woman was treated for shock, minor cuts and bruises before being taken home by police officers.
