A DARWEN man who had been given a chance by magistrates for burglary was up to his old tricks within six days by committing another offence.
Preston Crown Court was told Steven Taylor had been sentenced to a six-month community rehabilitation order on May 21 for burglary.
Six days later he was caught in a Darwen house by police who had been tipped off about the break-in.
Taylor, 31, of Woodvale, Darwen, was committed for sentence by Blackburn magistrates for burglary with intent to steal and was jailed for two years.
Steven Johnson, prosecuting, told the court the offence took place on May 27 at a house on Derwent Street, Darwen. The householder was at work and had left his home locked.
A neighbour spotted Taylor and contacted police who found him inside the house.
Miss Louise Whaites, defending, said once inside Taylor had had a change of heart and was going to leave the property. He had struggled with drug addiction and was now detoxified.
Taylor had needed money for a down payment on accommodation.
