IN response to the letter in last week's Citizen concerning speed camera paranoia, I would say the writer is not the only driver to be paranoid.
Since receiving a speeding fine I feel my driving to be less safe. Instead of concentrating on other traffic, on pedestrians, cyclists and traffic signs, so on, I am watching the speedometer and searching for 30 and 40mph signs on lamp posts to check what speed I should be doing, and breaking suddenly at the sight of speed cameras if I feel I have got my speed wrong.
Some local authorities fail to place sufficient speed limit signs on lamp posts and so forth; putting up signs saying 'speed cameras' but still not saying what the limit is.
If they consider the appropriate speed limit to be so important why doesn't every authority put up regular signs saying what the speed should be? Or do they wish us to get it wrong?
