ANGRY residents and local councillors have threatened to blockade the civil service site Norcross -- unless 'arrogant' bosses end parking chaos around the civil service site.
Anchorsholme councillors, Steven Bate and Jon Bamborough, are set to launch the protest after Department of Work and Pensions staff objected to parking restrictions on nearby Eastpines Drive.
Cllr Bate said: "Local residents are sick of their narrow streets being jammed up with Norcross staff cars.
"Perhaps some direct action will influence them to see sense. Buses, ambulances and even fire engines are not able to get down some streets"
Cllr Bamborough added: "They have gone too far now. Norcross staff have objected to parking restrictions on Eastpines Drive. These restrictions are to solve a problem caused by Norcross management."
The Liberal Democrat councillors say even the proposed restrictions will not clear the problems which have dogged roads around the site for more than a decade. A final decision on the parking restrictions will be taken by Blackpool Borough Council's executive shortly.
But Cllrs Bate and Bamborough say that the only real solution to the parking problems is for management to provide more car parking space on site.
They believe there is enough space.
They say there is enough space around the civil service building to provide spaces for all staff working there, and say that other employers would have to provide sufficient parking.
A spokesman for the Department of Work and Pensions said: "We are always concerned to make best use of our on site parking capacities, so that disruption for local residents is kept to a minimum.
"Management have previously spoken to MPs, councillors and residents, and are in ongoing discussion about any local concerns, with the next scheduled meeting due to be held in September."
