I HAVE noticed yet another golf club advertising for members, a far cry from a few years ago when all clubs in the area had a waiting list.
As a former golf club member and strong supporter of junior golf in Bury and Bolton, I would suggest that these clubs look at themselves and consider why people are leaving, or even not joining.
In the 21st Century, and with an average age of 55-plus, golf clubs have to change to attract families and young people into membership.
Future legislation on sexual discrimination is being extended to cover private member clubs, but golf will only flourish through a change of attitude and by current members embracing change.
