IT is about time that the citizens of Darwen were concerned with the development of their own town. For far too long they have to put up with a second-rate service from Blackburn Council.
Changing the name of the borough is not enough. We deserve far more than the lip-service that the council pays us.
Our roads have become a disgrace to drive down and the restrictions caused by the supposed traffic-calming have made a mockery of the A666 trunk road.
It is now a bottleneck causing severe pollution with the fumes of standing traffic, particularly below Lynwood to the Blackburn-Darwen boundary.
ALLAN LAXTON, Blackburn Road, Darwen.
