ONE of the North West's most popular athletics road races - the Pendle Hill Challenge - celebrates its 20th anniversary on Monday night.
Race organisers Padiham Football Club hope that local runners will turn out in force to support the family event.
Part of the 2003 Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix of summer road and fell races, the Pendle Hill Challenge is famous for its fast start as the runners head down Pendle Hill into Sabden from the Wellsprings Inn on the Nick of Pendle and its tough finish as runners have to make their way back up Pendle Hill and back to the Wellsprings Inn.
This year's event is sponsored by Forbes Solicitors and starts at 7.30pm. Runners and spectators can obtain more information from race co-ordinator Alan Smith on 01282-771963.
