A 15-YEAR-OLD boy is fighting for his life after his off-road motorbike collided head-on with another motorbike at a disused colliery.
The boy -- who had not been named -- was airlifted to Salford's Hope Hospital before he was transferred to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Pendlebury, with serious head, left leg and chest injuries.
A police spokesman said he was in a critical but stable condition today.
A 16-year-old boy who was a pillion passenger on the bike and the rider of the other matchine both escaped injury.
Police were called to the disused Bickershaw Colliery near the junction with Plank Lane and Crankwood Road in Leigh at 1.45pm yesterday afternoon.
A police spokesman said the 15-year-old boy, believed to be from Leigh, was riding a Honda trials bike when the accident happened.
Any witnesses are asked to contact the police.
