Leigh Centurions 54 Hull KR 4 by Mike Hulme: LEIGH Centurions quickly wiped out the memory of their setback against Salford with a 10-try demolition of Rovers.

The Humbersiders, despite three successive wins, were sent crashing to their heaviest-ever defeat by the Hilton Park side.

Rovers' coach Steve Linnane admitted: "Leigh are the best team we've played this season. They were way, way too good for us."

Satisfied home coach Paul Terzis watched his team regain top spot in National League One and then said: "When we turn up the heat there isn't a team in this division can live with us."

With John Duffy, Pat Weisner and Adam Bristow pulling the attacking strings, Leigh were out of the blocks like Olympic sprinters and had the first six points on the board inside four minutes when top scorer Damian Munro intercepted a wayward Rovers pass to race 60 metres to the posts for a try goaled by a fit-again Neil Turley.

Leigh doubled their lead not long afterwards when man of the match Duffy wrong-footed three Rovers defenders to stretch over at the side of the posts for another six pointer.

The third of Leigh's five first half tries was a classic Leigh handling move that split Rovers wide open and ended with Leroy Rivett going in for the first of his hat-trick. When Rivett went in for his second moments later, the contest was as good as over.

Bristow crossed for another try before half time as Leigh built up a commanding 28-0 lead.

Rovers had shown little in attack but had tries disallowed either side of half time.

Leigh heeded the warning and set about demolishing Rovers completely in the second half.

Bryan Henare produced a long break to get Weisner over in the corner and even though they had sub Lee Sanderson stretchered off with a torn hamstring soon afterwards, Leigh were in no mood to take their foot off the gas.

Munro shot clear to grab his second and take his season's tally to 23 while in the last 10 minutes Leigh scored another three times. Rivett went the length of the field to claim his first hat-trick in Leigh colours; Duffy darted in for his second and sub Dale Holdstock finished another flowing Centurions' move.
