THREE people will appear before magistrates again next month in connection with a dog attack which left a seven-year-old boy in hospital.
Ronald, Mandy and Jacqueline Cox, of Penistone Street, Burnley, have been reported for summons for owning a dog, or dogs, and allowing it, or them, to be out of control in a public place and causing injury to a person.
A hearing was held in their absence at Burnley Magistrates Court on Friday where it was decided a further commital hearing would be heard next month.
Sam Leverett, of Broughton Street, was savaged by a pack of dogs while walking to a shop near his home on Saturday, March 1. He suffered bite injuries to his arms and legs during the attack. He was rescued by passer-by, Robert Ashworth.
Mr Ashworth, of Tunnel Street, Burnley, was presented with a civic honour earlier this month for his heroics.
Two schoolgirls who used their mobile phones to call for help were also given civic awards. Licia Snape and Hannah Sprowell, both 13, joined Mr Ashworth for the ceremony at Burnley Town Hall in April.
Mandy, 28, Jacqueline, 16, and Ronald Cox are all on bail. The three are due to appear before Burnley magistrates next month.
