PLANS to convert a former Royal British Legion Club into a place of worship will be discussed tonight by Nelson Committee.

Planning officers are recommending refusal of an application to transform the club in Brunswick Street, Nelson.

The application, submitted by Mr M Anwar, would see the building, which has been closed for almost a year, used for religious tuition and worship.

During a consultation the council received two letters and a petition signed by 26 residents opposing plans.

Officers say the plans do not incorporate adequate facilities for parking.
