THE owners of an untidy patch of land could be prosecuted if they fail to clean it up.
Pendle Council is expected to serve a notice under the Town and Country Planning Act to demand action on land Brown House, in Gisburn Road, Barrowford.
A complaint was received about the area in January 2001 and despite a site visit being carried out in November 2002 to investigate the matter, the land remains untidy.
A further visit was made by council officers this month and it was noted that land at the top of the farmhouse was full of redundant agricultural machinery and plant along with many other items such as metal, drums, wheels, tyres, piping, two yellow containers, pallets, wood and a kitchen sink.
The lower part of land was also still full of rubbish.
Council officers have recommended the serving of a section 215 notice to require the land to be tidied, including the removal of all the redundant machinery.
If the notice is not complied with, the owners could face prosecution.
