ANTHONY Mark Conroy's alleged roving eye cost him his health, his wealth and his happiness.

Blackburn magistrates heard his girlfriend accused him of looking at other women while they were out and they had a blazing row.

She refused to let him into her house at the end of the evening and in frustration he put his fist through a window.

Louise Voce, defending, said his rash action had cost him dear.

He severed all the tendons in his wrist as he smashed the glass and had lost the ability to grip.

As a result, he would be unable to work for at least 18 months and to add insult to injury the couple had split.

Conroy, 23, of Peel Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was fined £50 and ordered to pay £230 compensation and £70 costs.

Miss Voce said Conroy had had his job as a drayman for only about a month. As a result of his injuries, he could not work and he would not be entitled to sick pay.

"He knows he should not have let his frustration get the better of him and he has already paid a high price," said Miss Voce.
