A PENDLE farmer could be forced to tidy up his land and remove everything, including a kitchen sink.

Pendle Council's legal and planning team has targeted Brown House in Gisburn Old Road, Brogden after complaints from the public.

Despite officers visiting the site in November 2002 to investigate the problems, the council says the land is still a mess.

A spokesman said: "A further visit was carried out in June 2003 and it was observed that land at the top of the farmhouse is full of redundant agricultural machinery and plant along with a kitchen sink and many other items.

"The lower part of land again has old batteries, redundant machinery, metal bars and car parts among other items.

"The conglomeration of items at either side of the farmhouse is adversely effecting the appearance of the countryside. The owners of the land have been spoken to, but there appears reluctance on their part either because of age and ill health to address the situation."

Council officers will ask for an enforcement notice to be served at a meeting tonight.
