BECKHAM may have packed his bags for sunny Spain but a Preston lass is hot footing it to his former Old Trafford club to sing a string of chart-topping hits at a charity bash.

Lucky Zoe Dillon, from Cottam, won a 25-minute star role slot at The National Asthma Campaign's fund-raising dinner next month to sing live to an audience of more than 500.

It is a charity night with Man United and England striker Paul Scholes who suffers from the condition that affects 5.1million people in the UK. Other VIP guests will include Preston North End manager Craig Brown, Emmerdale cast members and former Eastenders' star Tom Watt who will compere.

But the 16-year-old is no stranger to singing to a big crowd and pulled in dozens of spectators at the Holocaust Memorial Day event at the Guild Hall earlier this year hosted by then Mayor, Councillor Jonathon Saksena.

Zoe, who has just finished her GCSEs at Ashton-on-Ribble High School, has ambitions of reaching chart-topping success like her pop idol Whitney Houston.

In September she will embark on a three-year course at Phil Winston's Theatre Works, Blackpool, to further her career.
