NIGEL White, commercial director of Holland's Pies, said: "I think that in some ways the Outstanding Volunteer Award sums up the great strengths of East Lancashire.
"We are looking for people who will roll their sleeves up, sacrifice their time and their energy to help others and to make the area an even better place to live.
"I've no doubt that there are scores of worthy nominees and I would urge anyone who knows someone like this to put their name forward.
"This whole campaign will give the area a fantastic boost and it is just what we needed. As one of East Lancashire's best-known names, we are absolutely delighted to be associated with it.
"I'm not from the area myself but I have been struck by the genuine warmth of the people. There is a deep sense of loyalty to the area and that is reflected in the way that people regard Holland's.
"We've been around for 150 years and there does seem to be real affection for the Holland's name - it's something I've never experienced anywhere else.
"There is no doubt that East Lancashire is special and this campaign is a fantastic boost to local pride.
"There is just so much that is worth shouting about and this will give everyone the opportunity to do so.
"There is just so much goodwill out there.
"People are prepared to always give of their best and they are just full of surprises."
