ST Mary's Catholic High School, Astley, is currently preparing a bid for submission to the DfES in October to become designated as a Mathematics & Computing Specialist School.
Not only does such a venture demand the very highest of standards from staff and students at the school but involves forging real partnerships with other institutions and members of the wider community especially local businesses.
If successful, the school would be able to offer high quality 'tailored' training in mathematical methods and skills together with a wide range of Computing/ICT related courses at a variety of levels. It will also boast a training and meeting/conferencing venue with video-conferencing facilities that would be available for use by local organisations and businesses as part of the partnership.
Interested businesses should contact Mr J. Proctor, Associate Deputy Headteacher, St. Mary's Catholic High School, Manchester Road, Astley, Manchester, M29 7EE, (01942) 884144.
