THE 'Burn singer Mick Spencer today spoke of his devastation at being "sacked" just 10 days before the gig of a lifetime.

Mick was set to join fellow members of the Blackburn band -- Danny Davidson, Graham Rogerson, Jason Place and Lee Walsh -- in Paris on July 11 to support the Rolling Stones.

But he said he was told he was out when he arrived for work on Tuesday.

Today the band manager, Rachel Davidson, confirmed the band had been reshuffled and said it would have happened earlier if it had been purely a business decision without friendships being involved. She said Mick would not be replaced.

Mick, 29, shared lead vocals with Danny Davidson at gigs and on the band's debut album Sally O'Mattress. The singer, who had been with the band for five years, said he was told it had been a group decision but given no explanation.

He said: "I am absolutely devastated. I would never have sold my friends short for anything. I would never have let them down in a million years.

"I have put 110 per cent into the band for the last five years.

"I have put my heart and soul into it and put my family on the back burner, my girlfriend was having our baby while I was on tour. One thing I have learned is not to trust anybody apart from my family."

Mick has been with the band from its humble beginnings in their King Street rehearsal room when they dreamed of making it big.

Since then they have supported Oasis, Iggy Pop and Ian Brown. Last week it was announced that they were to meet their heroes The Rolling Stones.

Agents for the rockers spotted the East Lancashire group at a festival in the Isle of Wight and the deal will give them the most high profile gig in their career.

But Mick will no longer have the opportunity to meet legends Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Rachel Davidson said: "There has been a reshuffle and as far as the business is involved it will be better. Mick's involvement was getting less and less with songwriting and the music side and I think he was becoming more and more unhappy.

"The last thing we wanted to do was fall out with him but it has started not to work out from a business sense. It is a shame he feels he hasn't been consulted. This would have happened a long time ago if it was just a business. It is a loss and it's sad but we want to respect what he does in the future."
