ISN'T it time that the local public transport operators put their heads together?
Recently I waited 50 minutes for a bus from Darwen town centre to Hoddlesden and was amazed that during that time (during which a bus going to Hoddlesden passed right by the stop), I saw no fewer than two buses to Knowlesley Road, two to Birch Hall, eight going up Bolton Road (either Bolton or others), two to Spring Vale and various other buses.
As I watched in bewilderment, rows of people made their way home, but I was still waiting -- in the rain, to add insult to injury!
Then, when the bus did arrive, I found, while talking to residents of Hoddlesden, that two other buses were due in the next five minutes.
What kind of system is running here? -- 50 minutes without transport, and then three come at once.
This isn't cost-effective for the companies surely! A more coherent system is needed throughout the borough, as I see it, to ensure adequate transportation at regular intervals.
So, come on transport chiefs, sit down and sort it out. It may only take an hour or two, but at least you won't be left standing in the rain!
