FORMER championship winning teams competed against each other in a tribute to "Mr Tottington United".
The Tottington United side which won the Bury Amateur League First Division in 1986 took on their Kenyon Cup winning counterparts of 1991 in memory of long-time club administrator, Vinny Holden, who died at the age of 54 in March. Mr Holden became involved with the club 21 years ago when it was a church team, and was responsible for building the side into what it is today.
Around 150 supporters turned up to watch the teams battle it out on St Anne's Fields in Tottington.
And it was the team of 1986, which included Bury Times sports editor Phil Thorp, who won 4-2.
Money raised is still being counted and will go to Mr Holden's family.
Mrs Gill Leach, whose husband Geoff is chairman of the club, said: "Vinny's family would like to express their sincere thanks to everyone who had contributed in any way over the past few months.
"We would like to thank Paul Leach for organising the charity event and also the two teams who made it such an enjoyable day. We know Vinny would have been overwhelmed by the huge support he has received."
