MORE than 300 people were treated to a touch of showbiz style in an event to support a terminally-ill girl whose story touched the nation.
The hair and fashion extravaganza was staged at the Village Hotel in Bury and raised more than £6,000 for Kirsty's Appeal.
This is the charity fronted by seven-year-old Kirsty Howard, who suffers from an incurable heart condition. The youngster is hoping to raise £5 million for the Francis House Children's Hospice in Manchester and has already helped bring in £2.2 million for the cause.
The charity has been adopted by Bury businessman Antony Popadich, of Antony for Hair, who organised Sunday's event with Ninety-One women and men's fashion.
Opticians Yates and Suddell contributed to the glamour of the hair and fashion extravaganza by supplying the latest sunglasses for models and donating prizes for a charity raffle. A number of other companies also contributed to the success of the evening.
Kirsty captured the nation's hearts during the opening ceremony of last year's Commonwealth Games. She was the guest of honour and passed the torch to the Queen, helped by England's soccer captain David Beckham.
Mr Popadich said: "We have decided to raise funds for Francis House this year and this was our first main event."
Antony for Hair is continuing its fund-raising with £10 from each haircut going to the charity.
