A RAMSBOTTOM Scouting movement could fold if new leaders are not found.
Work commitments have meant a number of St Andrew's Cub leaders have had to quit, with only one remaining.
Colin Buckley, chairman of the executive committee for First St Andrew's Scouts, said: "We desperately need men and women to come forward or the Cubs pack could fold come September. If this club disbands then it would mean the Scouts and Beavers would also fold because their would be nowhere for the Beavers to go when they get older and there would be no feeder group for the Scouts."
St Andrew's Scouting movement has been going for more than 50 years. It was founded by the late Mr Harry Lonsdale who attended the first inaugural camp of the movement with founder Baden Powell. Today the movement helps youngsters' personal and spiritual development as well as giving them a chance to take part in a whole host of activities.
"It would be a great loss to the community if the club was to fold. There would be nothing for the children to do. The leaders themselves also get a lot of personal satisfaction in what they do.
"The Cubs meet every Monday at 6.45 pm to around 8.15pm and occasionally at weekends during term time. We are looking for men or women who are aged 18 or over who like or have experience of working with children. Training and support will be given."
