MAY I congratulate the Chief Executive and the Board of Directors of Blackburn Rovers on what I believe to be the shrewdest piece of business conducted this summer in a very difficult transfer market.

They have managed to negotiate the multi-million pound sale of a player who is not proven at the highest level, seems to lack professionalism and appears to have delusions of grandeur.

"Dunny for England" the Blackburn End sang in the past, but towards the end of his time at Ewood I think it would be fair to say that few believed that the lad waddling down the right hand side was truly the genuine article.

Remember we sang "Atko for England" to Mark Atkins, but with respect to Mark none of us thought that would happen. Sadly Mr Dunn started to believe his own publicity and the delusions of grandeur set in.

Teams cannot afford to have "passengers" at Premier League level and that is what Dunn became. Some people tell me that Dunn plans to play at Birmingham for a year or so and then move to one of the "big six" clubs. Good plan in theory, but hasn't he just left a top-six club where he failed to make the grade?

"Similar qualities to Gazza" Mr Bruce?? Well you have a point, Gazza is the man who, when trying to convince his manager that he was fit and ready for a gruelling football tournament, got caught literally red-handed after a night out on the town with his celebrity mates, as the chilli sauce from a monumental greasy kebab dripped over his nicotine-stained fingers, is he not?

Would you swap a David Dunn for a couple of decent signings and some cash in the bank? YES DEFINITELY.
