BLACKBURN-BASED Promethean has received the Royal seal of approval for its award-winning computer-based teaching systems.
The Queen's Award for Enterprise was presented to the company by the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Lord Shuttleworth.
The company marked the receipt of the award by officially opening a new manufacturing plant on Philips Road, Blackburn.
Promethean was honoured in the 'innovation' category, placing it among the best companies in the UK for design and product development.
Based at Whitebirk, Promethean is the current Lancashire Evening Telegraph Business of the Year and has won a string of educational trophies.
Stephen Jury, managing director, said the company was immensely proud of its employees. He said: "Their hard work has helped us to win this award. "Everyone has played an important part and we couldn't have done it without the immense dedication of every single member of our team.
"To be granted such an award after such a rigorous and demanding process is a huge success for the company and we are delighted to be recognised as one of the UK's top companies for innovation."
