BURNLEY keeper Marlon Beresford has joined Third Division York and will link up with another ex-Claret, City player-boss Chris Brass, once he completes a medical later this week.
Brass beat off a late bid from Blackpool for the 33-year-old stopper, who left Turf Moor this summer and will now combine his goalkeeping duties with a coaching role at Bootham Crescent.
The City chief said: "Marlon was my number one target and I'm happy to have got a goalkeeper of his calibre.
"He had offers from elsewhere, but was happy to come on board at York. With a number of young lads at the club, we will be looking to Marlon and I am pleased to have that sort of knowledge and experience at the club."
