CHILDREN at a Blackburn primary school are looking forward to the grand opening of their brand new garden.
The multi-sensory garden at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour RC School, in Holmebrook Close, has more than just plants and flowers, it also has a water feature, rocks, stepping stones, wind chimes and a mud pit.
It has been created by United Utilities employee, Clive Shaw, who works at the company's Whitebirk depot.
His wife is a nursery nurse for the reception class and his son, Joseph, is starting at the school in September.
Mr Shaw devoted eight days to the project and was helped by two work colleagues, Brian Norris and Terry Duckworth.
He also persuaded United Utilities to provide £400-worth of materials for the garden, which will be officially opened at a ceremony on Thursday, July 10.
