THE Skipton-East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership received another boost in its battle to safeguard the former railway trackbed between Skipton and Colne with the announcement that the Labour MP for Pendle, Gordon Prentice, agreed to become the campaign group's third patron.
Mr Prentice recently spoke strongly in favour of SELRAP's campaign to see the Skipton-Colne railway re opened and in a recent note to the group he said he would be 'honoured to become a patron'.
SELRAP's chairman, Steve Broadbent said: "The group is thrilled that Mr Prentice has been able to accept our invitation and the news was enthusiastically welcomed at our recent open committee meeting. To have Mr Prentice as a patron really does add yet more weight to our campaign."
Mr Prentice joins two Conservative MPs who are already patrons -- Skipton and Ripon's David Curry, and Nigel Evans the MP for the Ribble Valley.
