A 21 YEAR old man allegedly had sex with a schoolgirl, even though her father had told him she was under 16, a jury was told.
Burnley Crown Court heard how Martin Corbett was said to have visited the 14 year old at her school but later told police he believed she was 16.
Corbett, now 22, of Vicarage Road, Barnoldswick, denies unlawful sexual intercourse.
Kath Johnson, prosecuting, told the jury the defendant and the girl had sex once.
A few weeks later, she was interviewed by police on video.
She told an officer she had not told anybody they had had sex until her father asked her specifically.
At first, she denied anything had happened but then said she had had sex.
Miss Johnson said the defendant was later arrested and questioned by police.
He accepted he and the girl had had sex and said he had been drunk.
Corbett claimed at the time he did not know the girl was 14 and believed her to be 16.
The prosecutor said the schoolgirl's father had spoken to the defendant and told him to stay away from his daughter.
He told Corbett his daughter was under the age of 16.
