BLACKPOOL Transport has introduced a new initiative to improve the safety near its buses.
Other major companies have already found success by using dipped headlights, making pedestrians more aware of the presence of the vehicles. A simple act such as this has already made road users more aware of the presence of the vehicle and of its movements.
''This is part of our continued vigilant approach to reducing road accidents,'' said Liz Esnouf (pictured), business development manager. This initiative started on Tuesday and already members of the public have been commenting to the drivers that their lights are on. This hopefully means people are now taking notice of the moving bus in the street and will therefore result in the avoidance of any nasty accidents.
* Blackpool Transport has been hailed as a 'rising star' in the transport industry, After being voted third best bus operator in the country at the National Federation of Bus Users Welcome Aboard Awards.
Liz Esnouf added: "Because these awards are decided by bus passengers they really mean something."
